TAWAU: Haji Masud Hj Salbi, a staunch Parti Warisan Sabah member here, got a pleasant surprise on Saturday afternoon when Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Mohd Shafie bin Haji Apdal called on him at Kampung Batu Satu Setengah, Jalan Apas near here.

Haji Masud who formed the first Warisan branch in Tawau, was taken ill recently and hospitalised at the Tawau general hospital before being discharged on Friday.

Shafie who is also president of Warisan, was in Tawau for Sri Tanjung assemblyman Jimmy Wong’s Chinese New Year gathering, and when he heard that the Warisan grassroots leader was ill, he decided to drop by before leaving for the state capital.

Haji Masud, 78, was hospitalised for four days due to respiratory issues from a lung infection.

Also calling on the veteran was Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Jaujan Sambakong, Assistant Finance Minister Sarifudin Hata, Kalabakan member of parliament Mamun Sulaiman, Tawau division chairman Frank Salazar and other party supporters.
