LAHAD DATU: A foreigner was arrested by the police for attacking his ex-wife’s husband with a sickle at a plantation in Felda Sahabat 56 on Monday.

Lahad Datu police chief ACP Nasri Mansor disclosed in a statement yesterday that the attack arose from jealousy after the suspect learned that his ex-wife had remarried following their separation in July, 2018.

Nasri said the 30-year-old victim sustained injuries on his head and right hand.

He said: “At about 9.30am on Monday, the police were informed about a fight that had taken place at the plantation.

“Investigation revealed that the victim was having a meal at the plantation area when he was attacked by the suspect with a sickle,” he said.

According to Nasri, the victim and the suspect had exchanged blows following the attack.

The suspect, he said, was later apprehended with the help of plantation workers while the victim was sent to Felda Sahabat health clinic for treatment.

“On further investigation, it was found that the suspect had become jealous when his ex-wife, whom he married five years ago, had remarried after their separation,” Nasri said.

“Police also managed to seize the weapon used to attack the victim and is now holding the suspect in custody for further action,” he added.

The suspect is said to have fathered three children with his ex-wife during their five-year marriage.
