The released Malaysians celebrate their freedom.

KUCHING: There is light at the end of the tunnel after all for the 47 Malaysians detained at Banteay Meanchey provincial prison as they will finally be released, stated Santubong MP Dato Sri Wan Junaidi Tunku Jaafar.

Wan Junaidi was quoted by Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) information chief and Muara Tuang assemblyman Dato Idris Buang.

“We have been successful in the release of the 47 Malaysian under detention in Cambodia. Thank God,” said Wan Junaidi.

Wan Junaidi was part of a delegation led by Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah to visit the detainees at the prison on Feb 14.

On Dec 11, 47 Malaysians, 40 of whom Sarawakians were detained at the Banteay Meachey provincial prison for allegedly being members of an online gambling syndicate.
