MIRI: A man was fined RM2,000 in default two months’ jail by a magistrate’s court yesterday for having a dangerous drug methamphetamine
Magistrate Kasyfurrahman Abang Ahmad meted out the sentence on Ee Lik Hoon after he pleaded guilty to a charge read under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, and punishable under Section 12 (3) of the same Act.
The Act provides for a maximum fine of RM100,000 or a maximum five years’ jail, or both, upon conviction.
Ee, 49, from Taman Tunku, Jalan Da Sing Park, here committed the offence at 4.45pm on Sept 14, 2018 at a parking lot in front of a shop in Taman Tunku here.
Prosecuting was ASP Mary Ong, while the accused was represented by defence counsel Firdaus Morshidi.
