KOTA KINABALU: An IMM13 holder was fined RM1,500, in default, a month in jail while ten locals were ordered to serve four hours of compulsory attendance for a month by the Sessions Court here yesterday to ensure cleanliness at their living premises.

Judge Elsie Primus imposed the sentence on the accused after they pleaded guilty to separate charges of littering under the DBKK Anti-Litter ByLaw 1984 (2005 Amendment).

They were Laisa Mohammad, and locals Mohd Nazmi Kurus, Melni Antonya, Lyvester Ronald Lee, Fyeona Porimus, Aris Mina Jaran, Jul-enu Raenou, Katlina Binul, Nurhaisa Yunus, Mad Samil Harisun and Maduh Hassan.

All of them admitted to throwing rubbish out of their homes in Bandaran Berjaya here on January 10.

In passing the sentence, the court questioned the accused for not keeping their living premises clean, however, they kept silent.

The court further reminded them to keep the cleanliness of their premises and that no chance would be given for a repeat offence.

For the compulsory attendance, the offenders will have to spend four hours a day during the whole month to clean up their premises until all the rubbish is disposed of.

If they fail to comply with the conditions of the order, each of the accused must pay RM2,000 in return.

The cases were prosecuted by DBKK prosecuting officer Inspector Latizah Latip.
