KUCHING: The Bruno Manser Fund’s (BMF) claims of deforestation in Mulu have been called “technically incorrect”.

Assistant Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datu Len Talif called on those affected by the so-called deforestation to meet with the relevant government departments to get the correct details.

“If the people there really want to solve the problem, we have the Forest Department, NREB (Natural Resources and Environment Board), and Land and Survey Department to meet with to get the correct details,” Len said during a press conference yesterday for the Sarawak Career and Training (SCaT) Fair 2019.

He stressed that the area mentioned was not within the Mulu National Park as claimed by the fund.

“You must understand the background of BMF. The more they spin, the more readers they will have, and better for them to popularise their agenda,” he said.

“I am not going to talk more to help them to popularise their agenda.”

He added that those providing funding and information to the fund were being induced to do so.
