KUCHING: Public Action Voluntary (PAV) founder Augustine Chan is calling on the authorities to pay serious attention to flash flood occurrence at a traffic light junction along Batu Kawa Road near the Batu Kawah New Township here.
“Flash flood had occurred for years at the area but not much actions were taken to address the issue,” Chan alleged when speaking to reporters on Wednesday.
“At the traffic light junction turning into Arang Road, he said that many drivers were forced to take alternative route due to flash flood in the area,” he added.
He urged the Drainage and Irrigation Department to ensure that the drains in the area are not clogged during heavy rain to allow smooth flow of rainwater.
Chan also proposed that flood mitigation project around the said area be carried out to solve flash flood woes there once and for all.
