RTP to emphasise on people-oriented projects to benefit rural folk

LIMBANG: The state government has identified several people-oriented projects under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) that will benefit especially rural folks in Limbang district.

Assistant Minister of Agriculture Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail said RTP projects showed that the Sarawak government is committed to improving basic infrastructure, utilities and other social facilities to enable rural folks to enjoy quality standard of living.

“For the RTP under Bukit Kota constituency, a total of RM1,150,000 were allocated – RM150,000 to upgrade SK Dilak hall, RM300,000 for the construction of Kampung Mengatai bridge which has been completed, RM350,000 each for the new community hall respectively at Lubuk Sigantang and Kampung Binjai.

“For the 2019 RTP projects list, it included the construction of cement roads in Lubuk Sigantang (RM100,000) and Lubuk Piasau (RM100 thousand), upgrading the Kampung Lubuk Piasau hall (RM80,000), upgrading of farming road for Kampung Ulak (RM100,000) and RM150,000 to upgrade the Kampung Binjai Hall, “he said at the recent joint roadshow of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), Telahak Zone.

Dr Abdul Rahman who is also ADUN Bukit Kota stressed that RTP is implemented state-wide to provide basic infrastructure facilities especially in rural areas for the benefit of the people adding that its allocation is channelled through the various implementing agencies.

Meanwhile, he said a total of RM58 million was allocated for upgrading Ipai-Pandam road, while RM300,000 for building the World War Memorial in Kampung Telahak under the Northern Region Development Agency (NRDA).

He urged the agencies involved to closely monitor the RTP and NRDA projects to ensure that they are implemented smoothly and completed on schedule.

During the roadshow, various competitions were held such as fishing, darts, tug-of-war, children colouring, karaoke, cooking and telematch apart from lucky draws.

Also present was Walikota Limbang District Council Sufian Mohat who is also PBB Bukit Kota Youth chief.
