SIBU: A 13-year-old teenager was found drowned while swimming in a pond at Sibu Jaya this morning.
Muhammad Aidil Salleh, together with eight of his friends, had earlier went to the pond at about 11am for a swim.
His friends immediately call for help when they discovered him missing.
Sibu Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) personnel, who rushed to the scene upon receiving a call, managed to retrieve the Aidil’s body in the middle of the pond at about 1.25pm, before calling off the operation.
Aidil’s mother, who was at the scene, could not wipe back her tears as she narrated that Aidil, the youngest of four siblings, was a non-swimmer.
“I would have stopped him from going to the pond had I known that he had went there with his friends to swim,” she said in sobs.
