BINTANGOR: A lorry and the goods it was transporting was completely destroyed by fire near the Jalan Kelupu traffic light, Tanjung Genting, about 15 kilometres from here early yesterday morning
Bintangor Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief, Nicholas Belulin said that on receiving a distress call at 3.59am they rushed a team of eight firefighters to the scene.
The lorry was on the way from Kuching to Sibu, he said.
By the time his men arrived at the scene about 15 minutes after receiving the call , the lorry was engulfed in fire and beyond saving.
All goods it was carrying comprising air-conditioners, cooking oil, lubricant, computers, vehicle spare parts and household items were destroyed in the fire, he said.
The lorry driver and two attendants were not hurt in the incident.
Investigation is being carried out to ascertain the cause of the fire as well as to estimate losses involved, he added.
