TRAGIC END: Police personnel lift out Wong’s body from the drain.

MIRI: A teenager had no chance to show her Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) results to family and friends as death got to her first.

School leaver Tiffany Wong was found lying dead in a drain in Kampung Beraya Lama, 23km from Miri city at about 4.30pm yesterday.

The17-year-old had been strangled and her face covered in a black plastic bag.

Her childhood friend, also aged 17, surrendered to the police at Miri Central Police Station (CPS) on the same day. The suspect showed police where her body was.

Wong was reported missing since Thursday afternoon after she went out with the suspect to collect her SPM result slip from a friend.

Wong was a science student of Sekolah Menengah Kerajaan St Joseph Miri.

According to sources, she scored several As in last year’s SPM, while the suspect was enrolled at a local university here this month.

Miri police chief, ACP Jamaluddin Ibrahim when contacted on Friday confirmed having received a report on the missing person.

The deceased’s father and siblings turned up at the scene yesterday.

Wong is the only daughter and fourth of five children in the family.

According to sources, Wong was believed to have been strangled to death by the suspect in a car at a pit stop at Luak Esplanade at about 12pm on Thursday.

The suspect was said to have diverted to Luak Esplanade instead of collecting Wong’s result slip.

On seeing that she had fainted, the suspect drove off in the direction of Bakam before dropping her body in a drain at Kampung Beraya Lama. He strangled her again before tying her face up in a black plastic bag.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
