WE ARE READY: Fatimah (seventh left) all prepared for the big day.

SIBU: BN-PBB woman candidate in Dalat is all out to prove to her male contenders that the fairer sex is certainly no push over. Datin Fatimah Abdullah will cross swords with two male candidates – PKR Sylvester Ajah Subah @ Ajah Subah and an independent Salleh Mahali.

Unlike the previous 2006 state election where she won uncontested, she would now be battling it out in a three-cornered fight.

In 2001, contesting under BN ticket against an independent candidate, she won with a majority of 6,524 votes. Fatimah garnered 7,497 votes against her opponent, who pulled only 973 votes.

Meanwhile, some 3,000 supporters cheered her on to the nomination centre at Dalat district office on Wednesday.

Fatimah’s candidacy was proposed by Kadir Jamin @ Jamil and seconded by Zuras Gidi @ Gedi. On Wednesday they arrived at the nomination centre together with Fatimah and PBB Dalat deputy chairman Kenil Jaraiee (standing at left) and more than 3,000 BN members and supporters who travelled on foot from PBB Dalat office to the nomination centre located about half kilometre away.

As Dalat incumbent, Fatimah was defending her seat for the third term following her victory in 2001 and was uncontested in 2006 election.
