KUCHING: The 2,000-hectares of land given by the state government for Chung Hua schools in the state is not enough, said Richard Wee, the chairman of Kuching Chung Hua Middle School Board of Management.

Wee said he concurred with the views of the president of the Sarawak United Association of  Private Chinese Secondary School Management Board, Temenggong Vincent Lau Lee Ming, who had appealed for the land size to be increased from 2,000 hectares to 4,000 hectares.

“We support what the president (Lau) proposed to the government…that is for more land to be allocated for the purpose.

“However, we are also happy with the 2,000-hectare land that will be provided,” Wee said when contacted yesterday.

During a recent dialogue session, Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud agreed to the allocation of 2,000 hectares of land.

Meanwhile, it was reported recently that Lau had also appealed for financial assistance for schools in the state to be increased.
