Eyewitnesses who were asked about the incident said they were not very sure exactly what  had happened.

“I thought I saw something falling from one of the windows. It was only when I saw the girl’s body on the ground that I realised that a person had fallen down,” said an eyewitness who wished to remain anonymous.

Another witness thought that the incident happened around 1.30pm.

At first she thought there was a fight or something  but after joining the crowd, she realised it was a suicide attempt.

The victim was still breathing then and an ambulance was called to give her treatment.

An employee of the budget hotel told The Borneo Post that the girl was from room No.  203  on   the   second floor.

The employee who preferred anonymity recalled that the girl checked in last Monday evening.

The room was registered under the name of a 38-year-old man.

Asked if the girl was alone when she jumped, she declined to answer as she had just arrived for her morning shift and did not know the details of last Monday evening.

When the police came to start their investigation into the case, the victim was taken to Bintulu Hospital.
