Developers body seeks RM20,000 incentive to first-time home buyers

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (Shareda) has called on the federal government to promote home ownership by giving a RM20,000 one-off grant incentive to eligible first-time house buyer.
Its president Datuk Susan Wong said this package would help the community to own homes.
She said Shareda would also appeal to the federal government to review the new stamp duty rate of 0.5 per cent of the contract sum introduced under the budget as compared to the previous stamping rate of RM10 per book for all service agreements.
“We also hope the Sabah government could consider to reduce the cement price in the state. The cement price in Sabah is very much higher than that in Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia,” she told reporters after chairing 17th annual general meeting in Luyang near here yesterday.
Apart from that, Wong said Shareda would continue to pursue other issues affecting the housing industry in the state. — Bernama
