Kickalob U-14 to keep youngsters busy
March 10, 2010, Wednesday
KUCHING: Kickalob Sports Academy will organise a football carnival at Stadium C, Petra Jaya, from April 2-4 to give the game a much-needed boost among the youths in the state capital. The academy is planning to hold a midyear Under-14 league and will use the carnival called ‘Karnival Bol Remaja U-14 Komuniti Petra Jaya 2010’ to gauge the response.
Since there are now no age group football competitions in Kuching, the academy hopes to fill the void with the U-14 league.
“It’s imperative that players between 10 and 14 are exposed to as many matches as possible to develop into good thinking players,” Kickalob technical director Daud Aba said.
To ensure quality for the carnival, only 12 teams will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
The special features are nine-a-side competition with no offside; all matches, even during the first round round robin, will have a winner as penalties will be used to decide drawn matches and teams will be grouped into two for the round robin to guarantee at least a total of five matches for each team.
Also the top four teams will be awarded cash, vouchers and gifts.
Awards will also be given to the top scorer, best goalkeeper, best midfielder and best defender as well as a fair play trophy.
Each team is required to register at least 12 players and 15 at most, who are born from 1996 upwards.
There must be at least four players born from 1998 upwards.
The registration fee of RM100 will be charged on submission of the registration form. Entries close on March 25.
