Smuggling: End of the road for suspect

TAWAU: The Marine Operations Force (MOF) here arrested a 25-year-old Indonesian on suspicion of attempting to smuggle out about 600 litres of subsidised diesel.

According to MOF officer DSP Husaini Zainal Abidin, the fuel was found in a modified tank at the back of a Ford Ranger vehicle driven by the suspect at Kpg Pasir Putih, Jalan Sin San here on Tuesday evening.
Husaini told a press conference yesterday that MOF patrol personnel seized the diesel worth about RM1,020 along with the white Ford Ranger bearing number PER 7711 which is believed to have been used for carrying out the illegal activity since few months ago.
The suspect, who did not possess any personal document, was staying at Kpg Tanjung Batu Tengah, he said.
According to him, the seized items will be sent to the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism for further investigation under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act.
