Grandmother killed in fire

KUANTAN: A 70-year-old grandmother was killed in a fire at Felda Keratong Satu, Rompin early yesterday morning.Muadzam Shah Fire and Rescue Department acting chief  Rahmat  Omar said the charred remains of Minah Mahmud was found after a fire destroyed the small hut she was living in alone behind her son’s house.

“We received a call at 1.55am today and rushed a fire engine and eight firemen to the scene.

“However, we failed to rescue the woman from the burning hut,” he said when contacted by Bernama here yesterday.

The cause of the fire and losses incurred is still being investigated. — Bernama
