All were brought before magistrate Nelson W Angang who approved a remand application from DPP Poh Yih Ting.

The order will expire on July 21.

Three male suspects were later taken to the central police station for detention while the five women were taken to the Satok Police Station.

On July 14, following a public tip-off, a police party raided a house and saved two babies and a toddler.

The babies, both girls, were 27-day-old and 27-month-old. The toddler is a seven-month-old boy.

The five suspects were arrested during the operation.

Early yesterday morning, two more girls – one aged three and the other almost 13 years old – were found when the police raided a house at Airport Road and Taman Desa Wira in Batu Kawa.

Two women (a local and an Indonesian) were arrested during the operation.

The babies are now under the care of the State Welfare Department.

Meanwhile, these cases were investigated under Sections 14 and 44 (2) of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act 2007.

Some of the suspects were represented by Anthony Tai, Lim Heng Choo and Francis Wee.
