Two bronzes from state taekwondo exponents



KUCHING: Two Sarawakian taekwondo exponents Marlisa Tee ZulAriffin and Phung Jin Wen made the state and nation proud by winning two bronzes in their respective events at the just concluded 18th Vietnam International Open Championship.

Marlisa won the senior female light category while Jin Wen excelled in the senior female feather category.

Commenting on the success of the two Sarawak Taekwondo Association (WTF) exponents, team leader Tan Check Joon Tan said: “The two exponents have given an encouraging performance during the tournament at Phan Dinh Phung Stadium, Ho Chi Minh City.

“This shows that we have a lot of potential exponents in the state that can be exposed at international events.”

According to Tan, the achievement by the two exponents is remarkable as they faced stiff compe- titions from more experienced opponents from South Korea, Thailand, Monaco, Chinese Taipeh, France, Singapore and Vietnam.
