RTD to upgrade Tawau counters



TAWAU: The Road Transport Department (RTD) will upgrade its service counters here soon.Its director-general, Datuk Haji Solah Mat Hassan, disclosed this after attending a briefing at the Tawau RTD yesterday.

He said the six counters at the Tawau RTD could serve an average of 300 to 800 clients everyday.

“Although the environment at the service counters is less comfortable, the RTD here would be able to service the public on various matters related to road and transport. The staff here also could increase revenue collection year by year.

“Up to last month (June), the RTD here had collected RM9.4 million in revenue compared to last year’s RM15.3 million and RM13.8 million for 2008,” Solah pointed out.

According to him, the RTD headquarters has approved the giving of air tickets to the staff and families to go back to heir home town twice a year.

Touching on the two driving learning centres here, Solah said they would be useful for the public to learn their driving lessons.

The two driving learning centres are located at Hilltop and Jalan Damai here.
