‘All races must understand, be involved to ensure success of 1Malaysia concept’

KUALA LUMPUR: The Information Communication and Culture ministry wants all races to be involved in every programme carried out to ensure the success of the 1Malaysia concept.
Deputy minister of Information Communication and Culture Datuk Maglin Dennis D’Cruz said the ministry would study ways and means to draw out strategies and initiatives to promote the concept and increase its acceptance.
“Participation from the Chinese, Indians, Eurasians, Siamese and others must be increased because 1Malaysia is targetted for all Malaysians and not focused on one race,” said Maglin in his speech that was read by National Academy of Arts, Culture and Heritage (Aswara) Rector Datuk Dr Mohamed Najib Ahmad Dawa when opening the 1Malaysia Pidato final here yesterday.
Maglin urged teachers who are the architects of building unity, to assist the government in trying to instill patriotism towards 1Malaysia among the students.
He added that programmes like the Pidato competition can help create awareness, understanding and interest of the concept among the young generation. — Bernama
