Astro targets half a million Beyond subscribers

KOTA KINABALU:  Astro hopes to meet its target of half a million Astro Beyond subscribers by the end of the year.Its chief operating officer, Henry Tan, said  they had to date, close to three million Astro subscribers.

He said Astro is at 50 per cent penetration of the total television households in Malaysia with 41 per cent penetration of the total television households in Sabah.

“Astro has 125 channels to date, of which eight are high definition (HD) channels. We hope to increase the HD channels to 15 by the end of this year.

“Malaysia has the most HD channels compared to other Asian countries. Astro customers not only enjoy a variety of contents but thanks to our innovation in technology, they can enjoy it with better quality channels.

“In going beyond to delight our customers, we introduced the first HD service to Malaysia with the B.yond Personal Video Recorder (PVR) being our latest service offering. With its four simple buttons of Record, Rewind, Pause and Play, your television viewing experience will never be the same again. It is television, your time, your way,” he said.

Meanwhile, Astro hosted an appreciation night for Sabah print and electronic media on Friday.
