MIRI: A Muslim Indian has stepped up to support Chinese education with an undisclosed amount of cash contribution, thus touching the hearts of local Chinese.

The donor, who only wished to be known as Najim, is the owner of a local restaurant, Restaurant Fairuz at Morsjaya Commercial Centre.

Advisor of United Association of Chinese Primary Aided School Boards Miri Division (UAC), Hii King Chiong was touched by Najim’s generosity in donating to assist in the fund-raising effort for Chinese education through the coming Carlsberg East Malaysia Charity Concert ‘I Love Chinese Education’ on Dec 16 at Miri Indoor Stadium.

“When Najim heard about the charity concert that we are organising, he immediately donated some money to us.

“On behalf of UAC Miri Division and the local Chinese, I  thank Najim for giving us such a meaningful support,” he said after receiving the donation from Najim at Fairuz Restaurant yesterday.

Hii described Najim’s act as truly reflecting the 1Malaysia spirit which should be emulated by others.

He further said it would be the responsibility of the Chinese to safeguard and take care of the development of Chinese education.

However, such commitment would be more meaningfull if the people from various races can come together and give their support and contribution to help any fund-raising project.

He strongly believed that by doing so, it will help foster closer multi-racial unity ties and better understanding among each other.

Meanwhile, a total RM200,000 has been set for the charity concert to raise fund for UAE Miri Division.

The charity concert will be jointly organised by United Association of Chinese Primary Aided School Boards of Management, Miri Division (UAC) and Carlsberg Malaysia.

Six celebrity singers from Peninsular Malaysia  are expected to perform in the concert.
