Enhancing people’s income through agriculture

KUCHING: The Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industries will be launching the national-level ‘Enhancing the People’s Income’ programme from Feb 3 to 4 at the bus terminal at Pusa sub-district in Betong Division.
Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud has been invited to launch the programme in the morning of Feb 4.
Among the activities lined up on Feb 3 include an exhibition and sales of agricultural products as well as a concert at the Pusa Bus Terminal.
Popular artistes such as Datuk M Daud Kilau, Jamal Abdillah and local entertainers have been invited to entertain the crowd.
On the following day, there will be a briefing on grant incentive and entrepreneurship facilities by the Ministry and Tekun Nasional.
Minister of Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Datuk Seri Noh Omar and his deputy Datuk Rohani Abdul Karim and some federal and state cabinet ministers are expected to attend.
In the afternoon, there will be a cooking demonstration and cultural shows followed by a religious talk in the evening by Datuk Abu Hasan Din Al-Hafis at the same venue.
The main objective of the programme is to help the people in enhancing their income in agriculture, livestock, fisheries and agro-based industries products.
The public are invited to attend and participate in the events.
