W Group shows commitment to Chinese community



KOTA KINABALU: The W Group presented 30 Chinese tradition lion heads to more than 15 schools and associations recently.

The beneficiaries were the Kolombong Resident Com­mittee, Kok Seng Lion Troupe Menggatal, Sabah Chinese Youth and Sports Association, SJK (C) Yick Nam,

Sabah West Coast Shaolin Association, Fook Tet Buddhist Association and Kepayan Low-cost Housing Resident Association.

The Association of Ex-Students of La Salle and Sacred Heart, Persatuan Penganut Dewa Wei Sheng Koung, Society of the Temple of Kwan Shing Tee Kuan, Sekolah Menengah Kian Kok Kota Kinabalu, SJK (C) St Peter Telipok Management Board, Lido Chess Association, Kwong Siew Kota Kinabalu Asso­ciation and Jalan Kian­som Resident Committee.

The lion heads were presented by The W group chairman Tony Wong Chen Nam and Managing Director Johnny Wong Chen Yee to specially cultivate the Chinese tradition in prepa­ra­tion to welcome the 2010 Chinese New Year.

Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Wong Kwok and the W Group management staff were also present to witness the presentation. It was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility program to initiate and develop a caring community among its staff.

“At The W Group, we believe in building and providing services from the heart. In the same spirit, helping the people in need in the community is deeply rooted in our organization, as we inculcate a culture of sharing and giving through one of our company’s core values – ‘Compassion to All’,” Tony Wong said during the ceremony.

The presentation was done in conjunction with the Cyber City 1 key handover ceremony. Cyber City 1 was handed over the vacant possession on Jan 11, 2010. The entire project was successfully delivered the vacant possession within the 36 months from the date it was first launched.

The RM350 million project – Cyber City 1 comprises of 1,712 units of modernised apartments specially designed to highlight the modern and prestigious lifestyle.

“The focal point of Cyber City 1 is its safety feature. Safety is never our com­promise. Cyber Square is well equipped with CCTV and 24-hour patrols. All the streets are 24 hours under CCTV surveillance and the entrances and exits are guarded and gated round the clock. Occupants and visitors will have peace of mind the very moment they arrive at Cyber City 1,” said Tony Wong.

To further enhance the security feature, Cyber City 1 is equipped with Smart Home System in its indivi­dual apartment unit.

House owners will be able to make alert and view the condition of the house using their mobile phone via the Internet even when they are away. The function is in line with the government effort to boost the e-lifestyle among the Sabah people.

Among the other projects which will receive the vacant possession this year are University Apartment 2 and University Condo Apartment 1.

The three projects valued over RM500 million and comprises of 2,332 units of apartment.
