Burglary costs businessman RM40,000

PENAMPANG: A businessman lost more than RM40,000 after his house at Taman Rainfield in Kampung Nosoob here was burgled on Thursday.

It was believed that the burglars had gained entry into the house through the main door when the family members were out.

The house owner, who is a car wash operator, realised the burglary after they returned home around 8pm.

Among the possessions and items missing were cash amounting to RM20,000, jeweleries and personal documents which had been kept inside a safety box.

District police chief DSP Madang Usat when contacted yesterday, said police were investigating into the case.

In Lahad Datu, a senior citizen was robbed when two men broke into his house at Taman Muhibbah Phase 3 around 3am yesterday.

The robbers, armed with machetes, cut the back fence and broke into the house through a window.

They pointed the machetes at the victim’s head before taking jewellery, necklaces and bracelets worth around RM10,000.

In another break-in, a shop at Taman Heng Nam, Jalan Silam, Lahad Datu lost RM8,000 worth of air-conditioners and accessories.

The owner noticed his shop was broken into when he opened it yesterday morning.

He said the thief broke the chain lock at the back door of the shop.
