KUCHING: The Islamic Information Centre (IIC) will be organising its IIC Cares @ Youth: Images of Islam event which focuses on photography and arts tomorrow (July 5) at its premises along Jalan Ong Tiang Swee from 9am to 12pm.
According to a press statement, this is the first activity from IIC Cares series this year where the series of events aim to strengthen the spirit of unity and harmonious co-existence among the people of Sarawak.
During the event, an exhibition on Images of Islam is expected to be launched by Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Islamic Affairs) Datuk Daud Abdul Rahman while professional Muslim female photographer Susan Baaghil from Saudi Arabia will serve as the distinguished speaker.
Garnering more than 30 awards since 1985, Baaghil’s images have received much international acclaim ranging from United Nation competitions to accolades from worldwide exhibitions. Moreover, her works have been sold at numerous auctions, both charity and commercial purposes.
Baaghil’s photographs, which span a career of over 25 years, are consigned by galleries, business people and art collectors from all walks of life.
The display of Baaghil’s artwork is open to the public throughout the month of Ramadan.
IIC Cares @ Youth: Images of Islam is open to youths from government agencies, corporate organisations, Islamic non-governmental organisations (NGOs) community-based organisations, higher-learning institutions as well as the public (Muslims & non-Muslims).
