Local entrepreneurs attend 3-day homestay management course

LAWAS: Maktab Koperasi Malaysia (MKM) Sarawak zone recently conducted a three-day homestay management course for entrepreneurs in this district.

Conducted from July 18 to 20, the objectives of the course were to equip the entrepreneurs with better knowledge and skills in homestay business besides exposing them to the potential and challenges as well as good practices in the hospitality industry.

The course was conducted by Sarawak zone senior lecturers Frank Meol and Mohamad Suandi Mortadza, assistant senior administrator Dona Octavia and Sarawak Homestay Association former president Mahmud Sabli.

Among the topics covered were management model, planning and running of homestay business.

The course included a field visit to Penawan Waterfalls Eco Park, a recreational and leisure activity centre managed by Koperasi Kota Penawan Lawas Bhd.

Koperasi Penawan secretary Joseph Yusuf Tai shared his experience in managing the centre, the tourism potential and challenges of this field.
