MIRI: Miri Basketball Association is aiming for a better year ahead with better team performance and a more stable financial status.

Its chairman Datuk James Ling Suk Kiong, when addressing the association’s annual dinner held at a local restaurant here on Sunday, opined that the association has done much better after its administration was revamped two years ago, and they are looking forward for better performances in 2018.

“First of all, to maintain a good team, the team spirit must be there. It is the core that keeps the team together as one. If there is any misunderstanding or miscommunication, they must sort it out and resolve it before it divides them,” he said.

Being an association that partially depends on public donation, Ling said that Miri Basketball Association was not always financially stable.

“Even so, our financial state permits us to send our team to compete in tournaments that were held outside of Miri.

“This alone, shows that we are determined to defy all odds and challenges, in order to nurture our team to gain more experience,” said Ling.

Meanwhile, Ling was happy with the newly upgraded facility at the association’s basketball court.

“With the newly upgraded facility, we are more than ready to nurture more young and potential players to compete at higher level.”
