Oil rises above $87

SINGAPORE: Oil prices rose above $87 a barrel Wednesday in Asia after a report on US crude inventories revealed mixed signs about consumer demand, an Associated Press report said.

¥75 to dollar possible: Mr Yen

The yen may strengthen to a postwar high against the dollar because of the weakness of the US economy, said former Finance Ministry official Eisuke Sakakibara, known as “Mr Yen”, The Japan Times published a Bloomberg report.
