Rajang Lobby Lounge open for business


KUCHING: After 12 weeks of renovation work, the Rajang Lobby Lounge at Grand Margherita Hotel here is now open for business.

The refurbishment of the lounge was part of the hotel’s extensive upgrading programme, which also included the renovation of the hotel lobby, Orchid Garden coffee house and its guest rooms on the Serapi Wing.

In celebration of its re-opening and the festive season, the lounge yesterday introduced an exclusive oyster and champagne brunch buffet available every Sunday until Jan 31.

The oyster and champagne brunch is a rare treat and definitely not to be missed by oyster lovers.

Paired with a glass of bubbly champagne or non-alcoholic sparkling juice, the brunch menu sets off with starters such as fresh seasonal oyster on ice sculpture with diable or cocktail sauce, and oyster shooter.

At the salad bar, there are four types of fresh gourmet salad with condiments to choose from.

Others include calamari with chili vinaigrette, sword fish with celery, chive and parsley, fresh asparagus with balsamic dressing, and bean curd with chili padi, lemon juice and shallot.

In the soup pot, diners can indulge in the smoked oyster bisque accompanied by an assortment of homemade breads.

From the hot dishes station, diners can relish in shellfish delicacies such as oyster and spinach quiche, oyster rockefeller, stuffed beef rump with oyster and smoked beef slice as well as a selection of buttered vegetables and new potatoes with rosemary.

To complete the meal, desserts on display are fresh fruits, rich chocolate cake, tiramisu, New York cheesecake, blueberry cheesecake, mini fruit tarts and many more.

The brunch is available every Sunday from 11am to 2pm at RM79 per person inclusive of champagne.

For diners who do not drink champagne, the oyster specialties can be enjoyed with sparkling juice at RM65 per person.

In contrast with its former set-up, regulars will be pleasantly awed by the transformation as the new look is very inviting and features a wine cellar.

With floor-to-ceiling glass walls and doors, the hotel has cleverly played up to its advantage the lounge’s location, which overlooks the poolside and scenic Sarawak River.

Uniquely decorated in rich hues of red and accentuated by dark wood and marble deluxe carpeting, the Rajang Lobby Lounge’s cozy setting is plush yet comfortable and is ideal for both intimate and casual social gatherings.

Adding to the excitement, it will also feature entertain-ment by a lounge band.
