RM119,254 smuggled items destroyed

TAWAU: The Sabah Customs and Excise Department  destroyed about RM119,254.12 worth of seized smuggled items at Fook Ngiap Timber Factory, Jalan Pasir, here yesterday.This was the fifth time the department carried out the exercise led by Tawau Customs director Datu Kassim Datu Haji Bangsawan and it was  been conducted at 9.30am at the factory.

Kassim said the destroyed items consisted of 80.65kg of White cigarettes worth RM40,879.94, 200.869kg of Kretek cigarettes worth RM69,351.94, 80.55kg of tobacco worth RM5,391.85, 163.04 litre of alcoholic drink worth RM2,873.88 and 62 types of other item worth RM756.51.

All the items were seized in operations carried out throughout the year under the Customs Act 1967.
