KUALA TERENGGANU: Terengganu’s ambitious target of producing two international athletes per district was achievable, said Terengganu State Sports Council director Rosdi Awang.Rosdi said if all the relevant authorities involved in the development of sports worked towards the objective, the goal could be achieved.
“The Youth and Sports Minister feels Terengganu can produce international-class athletes who can represent the state and country at international competitions and we regard that as a challenge that should be shouldered by everyone involved,” he told reporters at the end of a three-day convention at Gong Badak Sports Complex.
Rosdi said with the excellent results shown by Terengganu athletes, especially during last year’s Sukma, the target could become a reality with the concerted efforts of the associations, managers, coaches and athletes.
He said 18 athletes from Terengganu had represented the country in various sports during the Laos SEA Games which ended on Dec 19, and contri-buted medals towards the country’s medal tally. — Bernama
