Wisma Putra takes over Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme

KUALA LUMPUR: The Foreign Ministry said Sunday it had taken over the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) and other South-South cooperation programmes like the Third Country Training Programme from the Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department from Jan 1.According to a ministry statement, MTCP had proven to be a successful programme in keeping with Malaysia’s commitment towards South-South cooperation.

Through MTCP, Malaysia had managed to promote technical cooperation amongst developing countries, strengthen regional and sub-regional cooperation and nurture collective self-reliance among developing countries, it said, adding that since its inception in 1980, over 20,000 participants from 140 countries had benefited from the various courses offered under the MTCP.

MTCP emphasises on the development of human resources through the provision of training in various areas  essential for a country’s development such as public administration, good governance, health service and  education. — Bernama
