Perak may upgrade its 1Malaysia clinics

IPOH: Perak may upgrade all four 1Malaysia community clinics in the state to provide better services to the target group, namely the urban poor, state executive councillor for health Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon said.

He said that at the moment the four clinics were only providing support treatment for minor cases.

“At the moment these clinics are manned by 10 staff, and no medical officers. So we may need to upgrade them to provide better services,” he told reporters after visiting the 1Malaysia clinic in Bercham here yesterday.

The state’s other 1Malaysia clinics are in Aulong, Taiping; Teluk Intan and Parit.

On the Bercham clinic, Dr Mah said, it had served about 100 patients since its opening Tuesday.

“This goes to show that such a clinic is needed despite the fact that there are about 319 private doctors in this area,” he said. — Bernama
