PENANG: The Land and Mines Department’s electronic land administration system, e-Tanah (e-Land), will be expanded to the whole country soon.Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk Douglas Uggah Embas said the system which was introduced in Penang as a pilot project, was found to be effective and well received by the public.
“After Penang, e-Tanah has so far been introduced to Melaka and Negeri Sembilan and will be extended to the rest of the country in stages,” he told reporters yesterday.
The e-Tanah service enables the public to make payments online and print the payment receipts, checking details on their land and so on.
Uggah said since e-Tanah was implemented in Penang, 150,098 land owners had paid RM427.2 million in quit rent through the online service.
“This shows its effectiveness in making it easy for the public to deal with the land offices.”
Uggah also urged the public not to make payments at the last minute as it could cause line congestion and affect service.
“The public do not have to wait until November or December to make payments as it could be done early in the year,” he said. — Bernama
