‘S’wak’ champions of Mukah sepak takraw

MUKAH: The ‘Sarawak’ team emerged champions after they defeated ‘Kedah’ in the final of the sepak takraw competition organised by Saberkas Leetonia Unit (Mukah) in collaboration with Mukah Youth and Sports Department recently.

‘Sarawak’, represented by Sapiji, Sapani and Hairi, defeated ‘Kedah’ 21-17, 21-13 in the final. ‘Kedah’ were represented by Haffis, Wari and Rizman.

‘Sarawak’ and ‘Kedah’ walked away with a trophy, hamper and an undisclosed amount of cash repectively.

The third place went to ‘Melaka’ which defeated ‘Negeri Sembilan’ in the third/fourth placings play-off. ‘Melaka’ took home a trophy, hamper and an undisclosed amount of cash while Negeri Sembilan bagged a trophy and a hamper.

All eleven teams in the competition were named after states in Malaysia with ‘Sabah’, ‘Kelantan’, ‘Perlis’, ‘Trengganu’, ‘Selangor’, ‘Pulau Pinang’ and ‘Johor’ being the others.

They took home a hamper each.

The trophies and prizes including hampers were presented to the winners and participating teams by Penghulu Musa Basri of Kampung Seberang, Mukah witnessed by three assistant youth and sports officers from Mukah – Abit Nunong, Rynnille Elsther Peter and Lanting Mala; Kampung Litong village chief Jamahari Salleh, organising chairman Abdul Razak, who is also an exco member of Mukah District Saberkas and members of Saberkas Leetonia Unit and PBB Kampung Litong sub-branch members.
