Security agencies to be more vigilant: Sabah CM

KOTA KINABALU: The state security agencies will be vigilant in the wake of the hotly debated ‘Allah’ issue that has resulted in attacks on churches in Peninsular Malaysia.Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said he had instructed all security agencies in the state to constantly monitor the situation to ensure that elements which can cause racial tension are not present in Sabah.

“We must ensure that the multi-ethnic and multi-religious people in Sabah who are known for their high level of tolerance will continue to live in peace and harmony,” he said after chairing the State Security Working Committee meeting at Wisma Innoprise here yesterday.

The security agencies are to take the necessary action against these negative elements if and when the need arises. On the meeting itself, Musa said the heads of the respective security forces in the state had briefed him, saying that the security level in Sabah was good.

“The situation in the state is good, safe and peaceful. I have instructed all the security agencies to continue being vigilant and ensure that it is always safe in Sabah,” Musa said.

He added that operations to flush out illegal immigrants in the state such as the OPS Bersepadu and daily operations by the enforcement agencies would continue.

Musa reiterated that illegal immigrants would be arrested and deported to their home countries.

Among those present were Sabah Federal Secretary Datuk Mohd Hatta Ab Aziz and Fifth Brigade Lok Kawi Army Camp commander Brigadier General Datuk Masrani Paiman.
