Perlis KPDNKK deputy director Abdul Halim Pakri said the station where the diesel worth RM15,300 was stored, was believed to be a transit point before the diesel was smuggled to a neighbouring country.

He added that the station was raided at 5.15pm after investigations and monitoring was carried out for about two weeks, following the presence of cars with foreign registration numbers frequenting the area.

During the raid, a number of cars from Thailand were at the station but no drivers were found at the scene, he said. Abdul Halim said the operator of the station, a local aged 30, was detained for questioning.

He added that it was the fourth illegal station raided by state enforcement officers since December last year. — Bernama
