Man arrested with RM200,000 drugs

IPOH: Police arrested a man believed to be involved in drug trafficking and seized six plastic packets containing brown-coloured powder weighing 2.7kg believed to be drugs worth RM200,000, in Parit Buntar on Sunday.

Perak deputy police chief Datuk Zakaria Yusof said based on public tip-offs, police stopped the 43-year-old man who was driving along Jalan Simpang Empat, Parit Buntar at 2.15pm.

Upon inspection, police found six plastic packets containing the substance believed to be heroin, he  told a news conference here.

He said the man had been remanded for a week starting yesterday and if convicted he could face the mandatory death sentence.

Zakaria said the drugs were believed to be for distribution in Kerian, Parit Buntar. With the arrest, police believed they had crippled drug trafficking activities in the area. — Bernama
