KUCHING: A foreign woman received 17 stitches to her head, while her boyfriend was hospitalised, following an early morning attack by two unknown men on Thursday.The incident took place around 5am at a shophouse unit at Foochow Road No.2 here rented by the couple and another foreign woman.
The trio was awakened from their slumber by someone banging on the front door and, after checking to see who it was, they were suddenly confronted by two unknown men armed with machetes.
The men were said to have attacked the trio, which forced the couple to flee onto the roof of the shophouse while the second woman escaped to the ground floor and disappeared.
The attackers then grabbed a sling bag inside the room prior to leaving the scene themselves.
The foreign girlfriend, who is in her 20s, sustained a gash to her head which required 17 stitches to close the wound, while her boyfriend, who is in his 30s and said to be from Peninsular Malaysia, was admitted to Sarawak General Hospital with slash wounds to his head, arms and body.
He is, however, reported to be in stable condition.
The other foreign woman was believed to have been slightly injured in the attack, but has not been seen since fleeing the scene.
The motive of the attack was not known but the incident is being probed by police.
