The unveiling of the additions which took place here, was initiated by HP Malaysia’s market development manager for HP Designjet Large Format Printer, Imaging and Printing group, Jimmy Saw.

He told The Borneo Post during a lunch after the event, “We see East Malaysia to be a booming market for our products, the sole reason being that it is currently developing, which marks it as high potential market.”

He added that with all the rapid roadworks and infrastructure construction underway, it would further boost the East Malaysian market’s credibility.

“Although most East Malaysian based companies have headquarters here and tend to purchase our products through their head-quarters here, the up-grading of their roadworks and connectivity will great-ly benefit us as well as our customers and resellers in East Malaysia,” said Saw and added that HP had two authorised large format printer resellers in East Malaysia, one in Kuching and the other in Kota Kinabalu.

He added that they also have an authorised master reseller in Kuching ensuring stock availability, smooth running of operations and acting as the liaise centre with HP headquarters here.

HP resellers for their large-format printers are called Designjet Business Partners as they undergo a series of trainings to be well versed with the Designjet models enabling them to provide accurate product information to their customers.

The range of new work-group printers, software solutions and media choices were designed by HP to help technical firms that specialise in AEC, GIS applications and mechanical computer-aided systems, ultimately designed to drive new business oppor-tunities.

The three new additions to HP’s line-up of large-format printers included the HP Designjet T1200, HP Designjet T770 and HP Designjet T620 Printer Series.

HP also presented four enhanced software solutions designed to increase customer’s productivity, reduce costs and deliver high-quality results to capture the business market.

HP provided further benefit to its customers by introducing their new and improved HP bond papers with ColorPRO Technology and HP Recycled Bond Paper, made of 100 per cent recycled base paper, in an effort to move towards the green concept.

The Designjet T Printer Series was aimed at delivering fast print speed and powerful in-printer processing architecture allowing professionals to easily meet deadlines without compromising on quality as the output features clear and accurate drawings (0.1 per cent line accuracy). It delivered exact detail with 0.02 millimetre minimum line width, crisp text and vivid colours.

For the financial year 2009, HP derived 72 per cent of its market share for its large format printers from its AEC sector.

“We have to be in-line and synchronised with the fast evolving industry needs. We have to provide tools that will be able to fulfil our customers business requirements as best as possible, that’s what we are striving to create with our products,” explained Saw.

He added that HP was looking at acquiring more Designjet business partners in East Malaysia with its growth potential in terms of infrastructure and tourism.
