SANDAKAN: The marine police arrested 14 persons, including 12 illegal immigrants, at a beach at Sungai Lombang, Batu 7 here yesterday.

Marine police operation chief ACP Muhammad Sallam Spawi said initial investigation revealed the final destination of the 12 illegal immigrants, aged between five and 57 years old, was Kota Kinabalu.
Muhammad said his operation team stopped a Toyota Avanza vehicle at 7.40pm and detained the local driver and a Suluk leader with the illegal immigrants comprising seven men, two women and a boy and two girls.
The illegal immigrants were handed over to the Immigration Department.
“The marine police are still investigating the case,” he added.
