Police impersonator jailed 10 months

SANDAKAN: A magistrates’ court here yesterday passed a 10-month jail sentence on a 36-year-old local for impersonating a policeman.Abdul Said Abdul Rahman pleaded guilty before magistrate Monica Linsua to committing the offence charged under Section 170 of the Penal Code.

Prosecuting officer Chief Inspector Kumaran Nyanasataran told the court that the accused approached a guard at GRM Engineering, Mile 10, Sg Batang here about 5.40pm on Dec 3, 2009. He came in a blue Yamaha motorcycle with plate No SS3941L.

He identified himself as a narcotic unit member of the police. He said he would be able to assist the company to deal with the police when they come to check on illegal workers.

In return for his favour, he demanded some wooden materials, seven zinc sheets and two gallons of diesel.

The guard then sought advice from his supervisor who called up the police station for confirmation and help.

The police came and arrested the impersonator.
