The ‘Ijo’, ‘Total Lost’ and ‘Satria GTI’ gangs bit the dust this year, when the police detained 14 suspected members while their accomplices went into hiding.

Seized from them were nine cars and 15 motorcycles, which were believed to have been stolen in several states.

The gangs, active over the past two years, were linked to the theft of cars and motorcycles worth about RM250,000.

State police chief Datuk Osman Salleh said yesterday, four suspected members of the ‘Ijo’ gang – active since last year – were rounded up in January.

He said 15 stolen motorcycles comprising Yamaha Rx-Z, LC 135 and Honda EX5 models were seized in connection with the arrests.

Catching up with the ‘Total Lost’ gang which was active since 2008, the police nabbed six suspects who preyed on cars in Mantin, Nilai, Selangor, Perak and Kuala Lumpur.

Osman said the gang was known to have stolen cars based on models ordered by their clients.

“They usually altered the engine and chassis number before selling the loot,” he said, adding that nine cars were seized.

This month, the ‘Satria GTI’ gang which was active since 2008, was busted by the police, with the arrest of four suspected car-jackers.

“The gang targeted modified cars and sold their accessories, while their engines were sold as scrap metal,” said Osman.

He said most of the gang members were former mechanics. — Bernama
