It is reliably learnt that the discs seized were pirated versions of movies, which is an offence under the Copyrights Act.

In a separate incident, a cargo hauler was suspected to have ploughed down telecommunications lines at Jalan Kwangtung in town in the wee hours yesterday morning.

The cables were left lying scattered along the road, causing a safety hazard to road users.

A private hospital medical staff heard a loud noise and went out to investigate.

He saw broken posts and cables lying in the middle of the road and the offender nowhere to be seen.

SESCo immediately sent their personnel to the ground and  confirmed that it was not their  power lines.

Its staff, however, helped remove the mess after police from a nearby station arrived at the scene.
