Four-day remand for two housebreaking suspects

MIRI: Two lovers suspected of having committed housebreaking were ordered by the magistrates’ court to be remanded for four days.The suspects – 41 and 22 years old, respectively – are Desa Pujut, Bandar Baru Permyjaya and Jalan Seniman in Bau Kuching.

They were both ordered to carry out their remand at the central police station in accordance with Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

Earlier on, based on a remand application by investigating officer, Inspector Huzaimi Md Said, a woman lodged a police report on April 6 claiming that her house had been broken into.

She said upon arriving at house at Jalan Halia, Kampung Pengkalan Lutong around 6pm she found that her house had been entered by thieves through an upper floor window.

The complainant found that several of her possessions namely a Sony handycam, four handphones, two laptop computers, a handphone charger, five credit cards, a DVD player, and a gas cylinder altogether worth RM2,397 were missing.

Based on her report, the police successfully detained a man at a house at Desa Pujut at 4:30pm last April 8.

The police also confiscated several electronic devices including handphones, audio system and a DVD player.

At 5:45pm on the same day, the first suspect who was caught led police to house No. 45 at Kampung Lereng Bukit where a woman suspected to be involved in the case was apprehended.

The remand period for the two suspects ends on April 12.
