KUCHING: INTI College Sarawak yesterday said it is now a registered Examination Centre of the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES).

The 18-month programme is open to Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) school leavers who have a minimum five SPM credits, while those who have completed the United Examination Certificate (UEC) must obtain at least 2Bs and 3Cs.
“For students seeking an academic programme that is recognised globally as the Gateway to World-Class universities, the Cambridge A-Level programme at INTI College Sarawak stands out as the Gold Standard Qualification; the programme of choice for students seeking to advance the flag of educational excellence,” said a press statement from the college.
The total fees to complete the diploma programme is RM12,999.
New students applying to join the July 2010 session, which begins on July 5, will enjoy a special bursary of 20 per cent for the entire Cambridge A-Level programme.
After deducting the bursary of RM2,601 (for students taking three subjects), the total tuition fee to complete the programme will be RM10,398.
Students who score 10A’s and above in their SPM examinations will be awarded the INTI-Laureate Merit Scholarship in the form of 100 per cent tuition fee waiver for the Cambridge A-Level programme at INTI College Sarawak.
In a similar vein, students who have achieved 8A’s or 9A’s in their SPM will be awarded a scholarship amounting to 50 per cent tuition fee waiver, while those achieving 7A’s will be eligible for a 30 per cent tuition fee waiver.
Those students with 5A’s or 6A’s in their SPM will also be eligible for a 25 per cent tuition fee waiver for the programme.
According to INTI College Sarawak Cambridge A-Level Centre head Thennavan Senthamarai, the unique feature of INTI’s Cambridge A-Level programme is the dedication, commitment, passion and quality of its lecturers, who go the extra mile to help students in the learning process and ensure they prepare well for the external examination.
“In this respect, intensive revision classes are conducted before every external examination, at no extra cost.
“Overall, there has been a 100 per cent pass rate in Maths, Chemistry and Biology and Physics in the Advanced Subsidiary level. In the A-level, the average pass rate has been 96 and 87 per cent in Maths and Chemistry respectively,” she said.
Upon completion of the Cambridge A-Level programme, INTI’s students have entered prestigious universities both locally and abroad to pursue degrees in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Engineering, Law and Nursing.
Examples of top-notch universities where INTI’s A-Level graduates have gained entry include International Medical University, Kuala Lumpur; National University of Singapore; University of Applied Science, Germany; and universities in the United Kingdom such as University of Leeds, University of Hull and Glasgow University.
