Sarawak to send two sepak takraw teams for pre-Sukma

KUCHING: Sarawak Sepak Takraw Association (PSS) confirmed the state squads’ participation in the Malaysian Pre-Sukma National Sepak Takraw Tournament from May 1-5 in Melaka.PSS vice president Paruwadi Musa said that Sarawak would be sending two teams, both men and women to compete in the tournament.

“We had a meeting yesterday regarding the participation of the Sarawak squads in the Pre-Sukma tournament in Melaka.

“At the same time, we had confirmed sending our Sukma shadow teams for the tournament,” he said.

Paruwadi said that PSS had been informed by the Malaysian Sepak Takraw Association (PSM) regarding the tournament and the committee had agreed to send the state teams.

“We are sending our best squads to compete in the tournament and I do believe that the selected players will prove their abilities,” he said.

The squad will be competing in all categories namely group category plus both the men and women’s doubles categories.

Paruwadi is hoping that this tournament will be a good testing ground for the state teams before competing in the Sukma Games in Melaka this June.

He also said that Sarawak might be hosting both the Sarawak Cup and also the National Sepak Takraw Tournament Circuit this July.

“We are really happy to be given the chance to host the sepak takraw tournament at the national level,” he said.
